You know the other day I really took a step back and looked at events in my life and the things that were happening at those times. I can honestly say that the reasons for my struggles were the pure results of my actions.
What I meant by that is no matter what venture you set out to accomplish, success is determined by you and your actions. Having the correct frame of mind and making the right decision about matters is very important, however your atmosphere that you choose to surround yourself in is just as important. In an earlier post we discussed the “Mindset”, so in this post I would like to discuss the “Atmosphere” side of this equation.
The people you surround yourself with have a direct affect on how you perceive things around you. If you surround yourself with people who are content with living paycheck to paycheck, you will find YOURSELF not striving for more. If you are around the types that are always blaming “others” or “events” for the despair in their lives, YOU will never take responsibility for your own actions and want more.
Success, no matter whether it’s in business or in your personal life, starts with YOU. If you want more from life, surround yourself with others who share the same interest and pursue the life you want. If something doesn’t work the way you expected, step back evaluate the problem and find a better way of doing it. Don’t blame other people for your failure. Don’t blame events in the world on your lack of success.
I use to be one of these people! I blamed an ex-wife or a girlfriend, I blamed corporations, I even the government. In all reality everything that has happened in my life, is a result of a decision that I chose. It wasn’t until I realized this and stopped all the “blaming” that I was able to be successful in my Home Business.
Now I am not saying, by any means, that you should abandon your existing friends because they don’t have the same values as you or they are content in their lives. What I am saying is that you should branch out of your comfort zone and put yourself in situations to meet other people that do have the same values and wants as you. As you become intertwined in this circle of people, your way of thinking will change and you will notice a change in your attitude about yourself, you will develop a “Can-Do” attitude instead of a defeated one. This change in attitude will be reflected in your demeanor and the way you carry yourself. It will also affect the decisions you make. These changes will be noticed by your old friends and they will see the success that has started to come into your life. They will start to follow your example. The bond with the true friends that have always been there will be that much stronger.
Successful people do not get defeated because something doesn’t work. They find a better way of doing it and making it work. Successful people surround themselves with success. Success is a matter of desire. If you don’t change, your outlook will always be the same.

You are absolutely right! The atmosphere you choose to put yourself in can have a direct impact in the success you achieve. If you want to succeed in a home business then surround yourself with people who have already become successful. I once read this article and I forget where, but it mentioned that your income is very close to the median income of those people you are around most. Sometimes you are required to let go even your friends and family if you want to succeed. You don’t have to sever ties completely, but it helps to limit the time spent with the people who are all in the same tax bracket you want to get out of.
